Hi Everybody! Thanks for checking out Save Old Time Music. We are just a bunch of people who have an appreciation for good old fashioned music in San Diego. When I say old fashioned I mean music before electric guitars, turn tables and reality TV.
The music we like here is old time, bluegrass, folk and traditional music. If you have never seen any of these types of music live and in person, well, you are in for a treat. One listen and I promise you will be hooked on old time string bands for life. This music is rich in history and has a way of bringing you back to a simpler time when people were not worried about the mortgage crisis or high gas prices. Just the mere mention of "old-time music" conjures up images of a string band, casually dressed in overalls and beaten hats, playing distinctive Deep-South non-amplified toe-tapping music on their well worn and sometimes hand-me-down instruments. This simple phrase evokes such language as "Appalachian style," "authentic," "acoustical," "old fashioned," "grass roots," "hillbilly," "pre-bluegrass" and "rural American."
It also speaks of a life probably gone, that some of us don't miss because of its miseries, but is part of our struggle. This is the life many of our grandparents and great grandparents lived. This is real music performed in the real world by real people.
